Founded by the late Canadian drumming legend Don Leppard this 20 piece big band features some of the top professional and Amateur musicians in Victoria.

With a Jazz Orchestra repertoire spanning the past century this amazing band will keep you on the edge of your seats as they tour you through their favorite jazz and Christmas swing favorites.

About Don Leppard:

Don led the Don Leppard Big Band and played both internationally, across Canada, and locally with other accomplished musicians such as George Essihos and in groups such as CanUS. A member of the prestigious RCAF band in Toronto, Don received his certificate of arranging from the Berklee School of Music. He also became the "pops" drummer with the Winnipeg Symphony and set drummer with the Manitoba Theatre Centre for 20 years. He has recorded more than 50 albums with various artists and taped more than 600 television shows for CTV/CBC/ITV and the Global Networks.

About The Island Big Band:

This 40-year old Victoria BC based non-profit organization focuses on music styles from the 1930's to the present. During the first ten years the band played for dances around Vancouver Island. Since that time the library has progressed to include contemporary Jazz works primarily for the enjoyment of the players and the audience. Packed Monday night gigs in Victoria include 35+ years at Herman's Jazz Club, several years each at the Swiftsure Lounge, Harpo's Night Club, and Millennium Jazz Club.

 The players, by invitation, are professionals and semi-professionals with many years of experience. The band has excellent soloists. Guest Artists have included Bobby Shew, Roy Reynolds, Paul Horn (flute), Floyd Standifer (trumpet), Walter White (trumpet), and Hugh Fraser (trombone).

 Our large Library includes several hundred standards in challenging concert arrangements. We continue to perform regularly at Hermann's Jazz Club and other venues of distinction.
